Endocrinology Department was founded in 1977, which has been set up as the earliest and largest endocrine and metabolic specialized clinic in Northern Jiangsu Area. Now it is a municipal key department of Yangzhou and national drug clinical trail institute. In addition, it is consisted of endocrine and metabolic lab, nuclear medical lab, genetic immunization detection unit and nutritional division. The number of medical staff is 25, including 6 chief physicians, 2 associate chief physicians, 3 attending physicians. It holds 56 beds. The number of out-patients reaches 20000 cases every year. It focuses on the basic research of genetics of type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance and obesity, the relationship between Obesity and disorder of endocrine hormones, the effect of RAS activation on islet cell apoptosis, the pathogenesis of gestational diabetes.

The staffs are all skillful in the diagnosis and treatment of endocrine and metabolic diseases, especially in Diabetes Mellitus, dyslipidemia, metabolic diseases of bone, disorders of thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and pituitary.
